Promise to update more often - posted June 5th, 2011

I haven’t been very good at updating, I will attempt to change that.

In other news, domain names have now been added: ErikEscalante.net & ErikEscalante.com – Nothing special, actually they re-direct here.

The much promised re-education has begun. See the current mind map:

Barbapapa - posted May 25th, 2011

The follwoing image is an excerpt from “La Maison de Barbapapa” a children’s book from the early seventies,  it shows the friendly and moldable Barbapapas casting a space for themselves to live in. What is to me very interesting is the way their buildings are user specific in numerous ways. The volume of the space corresponds specifically to the Barbapapa that will inhabit it, the second spread shows how more individualisation has been crafted; the musical talented Barbapapa has organ flutes sticking out from the roof, the book worm barbapapa has inbuilt book shelves and the animal friendly Barbapapa has bird nest friendly pockets.

I find it amusing that a spread from a thirty year old children’s book can explain Architectural concepts so clearly. An inspiration.
